So I spent tonight shooting Peter Andre, and despite a couple misgivings I came out the other end with some rather nice shots.
What misgivings were they, then?
The first one was Peter Andre himself. Barring one track that only charted because he was on a TV show, he had one hit to my knowledge. I said to one of the other photographers this came out in my mid-teens, and I'm now twenty-seven. Turns out I was wrong; Wikipedia tells me Mysterious Girl was released in 1995 - when I was eight years old.
I feared it was going to be a sad sight of someone clinging to whatever fame they once had, and an audience waiting to only hear a single song, but I can happily say it wasn't the case here. While I wouldn't stretch to enjoyable - it's simply not my kind of thing - the big-band inspired three songs I got to hear were not too far off.
Second misgiving; the location. Inverness Leisure Centre just seems like a very odd location to put on a gig of this calibre. I arrived expecting it to be an outdoor concert in the grounds - perhaps in the middle of the 800m track? - but it turned out to be in the main sports hall. Kudos to the organizers - the stage setup and the lighting looked rather fantastic in there.
So, a good show, well organized and some nice pictures to boot. That turned out better than expected!
