It appears that I may well be the world's worst blogger. I'll set myself some kind of punishment exercise like in my school days; lines, perhaps? "I must update the blog more often and more promptly after a shoot", times one hundred.
Anyway, I was at a gig last Thursday. I've got pictures to prove it.
To start, we had the local boy up on stage - or rather, down on the floor. Dr Wook (otherwise known as Kris from the Whiskys) treated us to some of his solo material of which some is avaliable on Soundcloud. Well worth a listen if you like your Americana.
Cousin Jac was on next. The thoroughly likable singer/songwriter/keyboard-player-from-Paper-Aeroplanes' songs didn't grab me as much as Dr Wook's material, but he's clearly passionate about his music and about the history that inspires it. Always good to hear others talk about something they have a deep interest in, while at the same time not banging on about ad nauseum.
And then there was Paper Aeroplanes themselves. Alas, I could not see their whole set - deadlines are a bit annoying on occasion - but I certainly enjoyed what I managed to catch.
Was a little bit annoyed at the gig though. Firstly because of the people at the bar loudly talking while the bands were performing - accept my apologies for the rude hashtag on Twitter but seriously, if you do this at quiet gigs you really are annoying and deserve the insult I slung. Second, if you are going to request some extra light so you can see your guitar neck properly, can you do it in the first three songs please?
Despite the lack of light, things went well enough and I got some good shots from the night. Here's a little gallery for your viewing pleasure.
